Ruth Beitia è una famosa atleta spagnola. La sua carriera è piena di successi, sia nazionale che internazionale con la selezione spagnola. La sua vita sportiva si è sviluppata presso il complesso di Santander, oggi chiamato in suo onore: complesso sportivo comunale Ruth Beitia. Appartiene alla squadra di Torralbos un allenatore riconosciuto nella regione e grazie a lui, molti atleti sono stati in grado di diventare dei professionisti, è anche professore di educazione fisica presso l'Università di Cantabria. <BR \><br />
Ruth Ha vinto la sua prima medaglia d’argento internazionale nel 2005 nei campionati europei tenutosi a Madri, dove ha saltato 1,99 metri. Da qui, i suoi successi sono stati numerosi. <BR \><br />
Ha partecipato ai Giochi Olimpici dal 2004 a Atene dove si è classificata al sedicesimo posto. A Londra ha quasi raggiunto la medaglia di bronzo classificandosi al quarto posto, per finire di partecipare ai Giochi Olimpici di Rio de Janeiro dove ha ottenuto la medaglia d'oro, in cui ha saltato 1.97 cm. Così da ottenere per la Spagna l'unica medaglia d'oro nell’atletica. <BR \><br />
Qualche anno prima di ottenere la medaglia d'oro Ruth aveva deciso di ritirarsi, ma con il sostegno del suo allenatore Ramon Torralbo tornò alle piste. Dopo questo successo l'atleta ha deciso di ritirarsi all'età di 38 anni per trascorrere del tempo con la figlia e il marito. <BR \><br />
Oltre ai giochi olimpici, ha partecipato a numerose altre competizioni: giochi mediterranei, campionati mondiali interni e all'aperto, campionati europei, campionati del mondo, campionato di diamanti, campionati Iberoamericani. <BR \><br />
L'atleta cantabra è stata inoltre riconosciuta con il premio della regina Letizia per i suoi successi nel 2015 compresi i successi della lega di diamanti.<br />
